Community Oral Health Workforce (COHW) Model : On one hand, bad habits, addiction, poor hygiene, behavioural risk, infectious diseases and diseases, are resulting into deadly amalgamation that is potential threat to population. On the other hand, social injusticeis killing masses.In past many years the global shortage of oral health workforce has lead many countries to find out alternatives. Emerging Workforce Models around the world. By in-depth analysis of these models and consultation we have evolved a model suitable for Indian context.

  • Oral Health Program Cluster Co-ordinators,
  • Senior and Junior - Community Heath Workers

  • Adolescent Girls of Kishori Swasthya Samuh
  • Phulwari Workers (care taker of children below age 3 years)
  • Anganwadi Workers (care taker of children between age 3 years till age 6 years)

in acquiring Oral Health knowledge and technical skills in basic oral health hygiene, counselling, prevention and promotion

Currently it is ongoing project under Community Oral Health Program at Jan Swasthya Sahayog, Ganiyari, Dist-Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, India.

Training have been completed for exixting human resource available at the organization:

  • Village Program Cluster Co-ordinators
  • 12 Senior Community Heath Workers
  • 108 Junior - Community Village Health Workers
  • 50 Phulwari Workers
  • 50 Adolescent Girls of Kishori Swasthya Samuh

A community oral health referal center (Jan Dant Seva Dawakhana) have been set up at at Jan Swasthya Sahayog, Ganiyari, where 1 senior doctor and 4 trainee doctors (interns) are availabe daily for providing clinical oral health services at very low cost or sometimes absolutely free of cost to the unserved, vulnerable and deprived tribal population of 54 program villages under Jan Swasthya Sahayog (Peoples Health Support Group) of Chhattisgarh.
